IMPACT
• Validated a high-need teacher pain point and prototyped an AI-powered grading tool in 36 hours
• Recognized by judges for its relevance and usability (Top 5 Finalist at NYC Hackathon)
• Demonstrated strong potential for future integration with Google Classroom

The Problem
Teachers work ~54 hours/week.
Grading, especially writing, eats up evenings, weekends, and energy.

Tools like Google Classroom help organize. But they don’t help grade.
That’s where we saw an opportunity.

The Goal
Design a tool that saves time — without sacrificing teacher judgment.

The Idea: GradeSnap
GradeSnap is an AI assistant that plugs into Google Classroom.
• Teachers sync assignments
• AI grades based on a rubric
• Teachers review + edit
• Feedback and scores return with one click

AI doesn’t replace the teacher — it assists.

Real Constraints We Faced
• Google Classroom API had limited write access — we had to get creative with syncing.
• AI couldn’t feel like it was “grading for” the teacher — only assisting.

• Limited hackathon time meant scoping features tightly.

Reflection
This project hit close to home.
As a former teacher, I knew we couldn’t build something that just worked, it had to respect teachers’ expertise.

The biggest lesson?
Fast doesn’t mean shallow. We stayed grounded in user pain, scoped tightly, and built a real solution.

GradeSnap is a way to give teachers what they deserve most:
Time. Clarity. And energy to focus on what matters.
